Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Phoenix Contact, a German manufacturer of industrial electrical and electronic technology, has announced that it is to create 250 new jobs by enlarging its production plant in Nowy Tomyśl (in the Kostrzyńsko-Słubicka Special Economic Zone). The plant manufactures electrical and electronic device connections. The factory in Nowy Tomyśl has been operational for 13 years, and currently employs 600. The investment also involves the introduction of new technologies in inserting sleeves to clip collars of the electro mechanic connections, production of screws and galvanic coating. As of March 2008, there is no information as to when employment at the site will commence and when the new jobs will be created by.
