Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
General Motors (GM), a multi-national manufacturer of motor vehicles, has announced an extensive reorganisation plan that envisages the loss of 902 jobs at the Spanish plant in Figueruelas (Zaragoza). 864 out of 902 jobs will be lost through direct dismissals and another 38 jobs will be lost through natural decline (retirement). The plant currently employs 8,000.
