Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Slezan Frýdek-Místek, a Czech traditional textile company, has announced its restructuring plan that involves 290 job cuts at its two operation sites. 90 employees have already lost their jobs in Raškovice weaving mill (Frýdek-Místek region) and another 200 people will be dismissed in Trutnov site (Hradec Králové region). The reasons stated were competition from Asian producers, increasing energy prices and CZK exchange rate. As of March 2008, there is no information on the number employed at the affected units and when the job losses will be implemented.
