Description
180 new workers as well as the transfer of a hundred workers from another unit will be needed when steel group ArcelorMittal?s blast furnace no 6 restarts at the end of February or beginning of March 2008. In 2007, the company agreed to reconsider its decision to close the blast furnace located in Seraing in the region of Liege in South East Belgium. After considering the economical viability of restarting the furnace the steel group demanded some guarantees related to the greenhouse gas emissions quotas from the Belgian authorities. On 1st February 2008 an agreement was reached between the company and the authorities.
