Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Shangai Union Technology group (one of the biggest rapid
prototyping system supplier in mainland of China) is going to invest
221 millions euro in the creation of a production unit of alkaline batteries in Beja.
When a full production is reached, it will employ nearly 600 workers. 30 to 40 technical staff will come from China and the remaining workers will be hired locally.
The company should initiate activity in Beja still in 2008 with
the installation of the first phase of the project that will create jobs
to around 80 Portuguese workers.
The industrial unit will be installed in three phases and it is going to
occupy a six hectares area in the Industrial Park of Beja.
