Avon, a firm that produces cosmetics, has announced that it is to cut 180 jobs at its site in Corby in Northamptonshire. 800 are currently employed at the Corby site, and the 180 jobs will be 'offshored' to a location in India. Management at Avon stated that the job cuts were necessary due to financial reasons and to 'secure the firm's long term future'. Management also stated that they were consulting with employees over the job losses. As of February 2008 there is no information on when the job losses will be implemented by.
