Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Alstom SA, a France-based company that specializes in the manufacture and supply of transport and energy infrastructure, has announced that Alstom Transport is to create more than 300 new jobs at its Belfort site in France between February and December 2008. . The new jobs, which are to meet the needs of international energy and transport contracts, will be for engineers, technicians and operators. The facility has 2,800 employees after adding 500 new jobs between 2006 and 2007. The Company designs, supplies and maintains a range of high technology products used for power generation, including turbines, alternators and boilers. It also produces hydroelectric equipment, combined-cycle power plants and environmental control systems. In addition, Alstom SA supplies equipment and infrastructure for the rail and maritime transport sectors, notably ships, rolling stock, signaling and maintenance systems, and high-speed tilting trains. The Company has production facilities in over 70 countries across the Americas, Europe (and EU), the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
