Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Valassis, a British company that processes and settles the finances of coupons and money-off vouchers between product manufacturers and retailers, has announced that it is to create 200 new permanent jobs by the end of 2008 with the opening of a back-office centre in Białogard (Western Pomerania, on the Polish coast). Another 150 seasonal jobs may be also created. This business expansion is the result of a relocation of the company's operations from the UK to Poland. Valassis UK is a subsidiary of Valassis Communications, the multinational services company based in the United States – provider of promotional solutions relying on state-of-the-art marketing tools.
