Pennine Home Improvements, a firm that operates in the home improvement sector, has announced that it has cut 126 jobs at its six sites in Newcastle and Middlesbrough after entering administration. The firm specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of windows, doors and conservatories, and operates a head office in Newcastle, four show sites in Newcastle, and one show site in Middlesbrough. A total of 17 employees are currently working at these locations. As of January 2008, it is unclear what will happen to the remaining 17 staff and how the 126 job losses have affected the firm’s different sites. The administrators of the firm have attributed the firm’s financial difficulties to recent slow growth in the UK housing market and have also stated that some of the firm’s sites may close. Pennine Home Improvements was established in 1977.
