Description

ArcelorMittal, the largest metal smelting group in Poland (accounting for some 70% of the country’s aggregate steel output), has announced the cut of 1600 jobs by the end of 2007. This internal restructuring is in line with the business plan negotiated with the European Commission before the privatisation of the steel mills now owned by ArcelorMittal. The company currently employs 12,000 workers and its steel production facilities are located in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Sosnowiec, Świętochłowice, and Cracow. The job losses will take place in these plants.
