J.L. French, an American-Spanish company that produces components for the motor sector, has announced that it is to create 200 new jobs in Kechnec with the establishment of a new site. The firm will produce aluminium components for car and motorbike gearboxes at the new plant. The opening of the new site follows the opening of the Getrag Ford Transmissions Slovakia plant in Kechnec at which motor vehicles will be produced. Getrag Ford Transmissions Slovakia will be the main customer of the J.L. French site. The J.L. French plant will involve an investment of approximately 1 billion SKK, and construction of the site is due to commence in April 2008. As of November 2007, there is no information on when employment at the plant will commence.
