Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pilkington, a multi-national manufacturer of glass products for the automotive and construction sectors, has announced that it is to create 150 new jobs at its site in San Salvo in Chieti. The San Salvo plant currently employs 2000, and a new unit will be built at the site at which the 150 will be employed. The employment of the 150 and production at the new unit will commence in May 2008, and glass products for car manufacturers will be produced at the new unit. Pilkington operates two other sites in Italy, in Porto Marghera and Settimo Torinese, and employs a total of 2,600 in Italy. It operates in 26 countries and employs 3,600 internationally.
