Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Regency Spinning, a textiles firm, is to close its site in Newtownards with the loss of 112 jobs. Managers at the firm have yet to comment on the case. However, David McMurray from the Transport and General and Workers Union stated that 97 redundancies were due to be made on 12th November 2007 and that a further 15 workers would be made redundant after staying on to help run the factory down and to clear up orders.
