Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Avepark (Park of Science and Technology of Guimarães) and the CRH group with its headquarters in Lisbon recently signed a contract that will create 400 new jobs in Guimarães by November 2009 with the development of a call centre serving companies and other entities. In an initial phase, CRH will also develop an e-government project in cooperation with the University of Minho and the Municipality of Guimarães. The construction of the building of this new company and the first wave of recruitment will occur within seven months. Initially, 188 posts will be offered mostly to young people specialised in IT.
