Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Eagle Aviation, the French airline, has announced that it is to create 200 new jobs in the airports of Roissy-Paris and Saint-Nazaire. The jobs will be created between January 2008 and March 2009, and are due to the conclusion of a new contract worth 135 million USD between the firm and Saudi Arabian Airlines. As a result of the new contract, the firm expects its turnover to rise to 49 million EUR in 2007, as against 35 million EUR in the financial year ending in March 2007. Turnover is also expected by the firm to reach 110 million EUR by 2010. Eagle Aviation currently employs 90 at Roissy-Paris and Saint-Nazaire. As of October 2007, there is no information on how the new jobs will be distributed between the two sites.
