Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Freescale France, a manufacturer of chips for the automotive and telecommunications sectors and a subsidiary of Freescale Semiconductor Inc., has announced that it is to cut 256 jobs during December 2007. The job cuts will affect the firm’s employees in Crolles and Toulouse where 1,800 are currently employed. The Chief Executive Officer of Freescale France has stated that the decision to implement the job cuts is a response to a recent downturn in the firm’s financial results.
