Description

Eason, the Irish distributor of newspapers and magazines, is to shut its Cork-based newspaper and magazine subsidiary News Brothers with the loss of 100 jobs. The site will close by the end of 2008, and the decision to close the site follows a review by Eason of its entire newspaper and magazine distribution operation. Some of the functions at the Cork site are to be relocated to Dublin, but as of October 2007 it is uncertain as to how many of the jobs will be relocated. Eason is one of Ireland's biggest distributors of newspapers and magazines. It is also a major retailer of books in Ireland. The group generated sales of 451 million EUR in Ireland in 2006.
