Description
Opel, a producer of motor vehicles and a subsidiary of the General Motors group, has announced that it is to create 150 new jobs in Rüsselsheim. The jobs will be created by 2012, and the announcement follows a mistaken report in the German press stating that job cuts at the Rüsselsheim site were planned. The trade union IG Metall denied this report, and instead announced the creation of the new jobs. IG Metall also confirmed that General Motors’ 2005 decision to produce new models of Opel and Saab cars at the Rüsselsheim plant still stand. 18,300 are currently employed at the Rüsselsheim site.
