Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ivax Pharmaceuticals (formely known as Galena), a subsidiary of the multinational pharmaceutical company Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, announced on 11 March 2008 that is to create approximately 400 new jobs in Opava with the expansion of its exisiting site. The firm currently employs over 1,100 people at its Opava plant, and the expansion will involve the construction of a new production facility at its site and an investment of USD 100 billion. The new facility will produce tablets and gelatine capsules. As of March 2008, there is no information on when employment at the new site will commence and when the new jobs will be created by.
