Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Woodhead Connectivity, a firm that manufactures electrical equipment for industrial machinery controls, is to close its Ebbw Vale site with the loss of 215 jobs. The decision was made by the firm’s parent company, Molex Incorporated, who had announced a ‘rationalisation’ programme in May 2007. The closure of the site is to be implemented by June 2008. Woodhead Connectivity has operated in Ebbw Vale since 1973.
