Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Jules, a French firm that retails clothes for men, is to create 100 new jobs in Roubaix with the development of a new logistical centre. The new centre will involve an investment of 35 million EUR, and it is expected that the jobs will be created between July and September 2008. The centre itself is expected to measure approximately 260,000 square metres, but could be expanded by a further 6,000 square metres in the future. The centre is expected to be operational by the end of August 2008, and will initially deliver 25 million items of clothing a year. The centre will provide services to 500 of Jules’ retail outlets in France and across Europe.
