Description
Durex, a firm that manufactures contraceptives and is a subsidiary of the British group SSL Healthcare Manufacturing, is to close its site in Rubí with the loss of 230 jobs. The Rubí site is due to close by the beginning of 2008, and production at the plant will be relocated to either India or Thailand. 75% of the firm’s employees at the Rubí plant are female. Management at Durex attributed the decision to close the Rubí site to a ‘loss of competitiveness’ in relation to other European firms.
