Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German group Metro are to create 100 new jobs in Bucharest by the end of 2007. The jobs will be based within MGI Metro Group Information Technology Romania, an offshoot of Metro that provides I.T. services to the group. The firm are seeking to employ software engineers, and the new recruits will take the number employed at the site to 200. A statement by the firm read:
‘We're strengthening our IT operations outside Germany, in Bucharest. This development is part of Metro's internationalisation policy, which entails operations in new locations that can provide skilled IT support’
Metro Group registered a turnover of 1.51 billion EUR in 2006. Metro Cash & Carry Romania registered a turnover of 66.2 million EUR in 2006.
