Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cameron, an American group that provides equipment and services to the oil and gas industry, is to create 330 new jobs in Ploiesti with the opening of a new plant. The firm will invest 63 million USD (approximately 46 million EUR) in the site, and are aiming to consolidate their position in Romania after they bought the majority stake in Sterom Campina, a producer of equipment for the oil industry, in 2004. The new plant will produce surface equipment for the European, Russian and African markets, and the construction of the plant is due to be completed by the middle of 2008. John Cane, Chairman of the Cameron drilling and production systems section, stated that the new Romanian site was a key part of Cameron’s expansion strategy and that demand for the equipment to be produced by the Ploiesti site was rising.
