Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
LIDL, a German group that distributes and retails food at discount prices, has announced that it is to create 440 new jobs in France before the end of 2007. The firm will construct three new warehouses for storage in Rennes, Meaux, and Entzheim at which the new jobs will be created. 120 new jobs will be created at Rennes, 150 at Meaux, and 170 at Entzheim. Each of the three warehouses will measure 30,000 square metres. It is also known that the site at Entzheim will cost 25 million EUR. Lidl holds a 4.3 per cent share of the French market for food distribution and holds one-third of the French market for discount food retail. The firm operates 1,400 stores in France.
