Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Condat Papeterie SAS, a paper manufacturer that operates in Condat and is part of the Lecta SA Group, is to cut between 92 and 104 jobs before the end of 2007. The restructuring programme was announced by the firm’s Chief Executive Officer to the company’s works council at a meeting on 24th July 2007.
The firm attributes the job cuts to increases in its energy and raw material prices and the strength of the Euro against the Dollar. Condat also made a net loss of 44 million EUR over the past three years. The programme of redundancies is part of an European-wide reorganization programme by the Lecta Group.
