Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 5 July 2007 the Japanese group Olympus announced its plans to establish a new R&D centre in Munich which will specialise in medical technologies. With this decision Olympus is aiming to concentrate in
Munich a variety of activities that are currently scattered over Germany and Europe. Therefore, 250 already existing jobs will be transferred from other European and German Olympus sites to the new centre in Munich. Another 200 new jobs are expected to be created by the end of 2009. The investment in the R&D centre is expected to reach approximately 15 million Euros.
