Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Graphoprint, a commercial printing firm, has made 170 redundant at its plant in Flintshire as a result of the firm going into administration. The company laid off the workers on 19 June 2007, but 20 are being kept on. Ten staff at its Milton Keynes head office have also been made redundant. Accountant KPMG said it was hoping to find a buyer for the business. North Wales Liberal Democrat AM Eleanor Burnham is to ask an urgent question about the job losses at the assembly on Wednesday. The Deeside plant was virtually destroyed in a fire in April 2005, but a new state-of-the-art works was opened last year.
