On June 13, 2007, the Polish Ministries of Culture and National Heritage and of Defence, the Polish Filmmakers’ Association, the Polish Institute of Film Art, and the national government’s representative to the Łódź region signed an agreement whereunder the former military airfield in Nowe Miasto by Pilica (with an area of 460 hectares) will become the site of a technological park dedicated to the film industry. The complex will comprise an assortment of studios with a permanent staff of 200; it will be capable of accommodating up to 1500 supporting actors and technicians retained for specific shoots or productions. The cost of launching this filmmaking complex is estimated at 100 million EUR.
