The premises of Johnson Controls in Nelas, which is closing down in September 2007, have been bought by Basmad – Society of Management and Social Participations, SGPS, INC. A new company is going to be created – Sivenner – Folhas de Madeira Lda, which will start its activity in January 2008. Sivenner will employ, in a first phase in September 2007, around 300 former workers of Johnson Controls. Later, and until mid 2008, the company is planning to employ 400 additional employees. The new company is going to produce wood sheets to export to several countries in Europe.
