Description
German automotive air-conditioning and engine cooling systems manufacturer, Behr GmbH & Co, announced on 2 May 2007 that it will cut between 100 and 210 jobs in its plants in Rouffach and Hambach, eastern France, between July and December 2007. This decision is part of the company's reorganisation plan for its French plants which also regards the investment of a total of 35 million Euro in these plants. The German company will modernise the equipment of the plants in a move to increase production capacity by 30%. The workforce will be reduced through the expiry of temporary and fixed-term employment contracts as well as through voluntary retirements. Behr generated a turnover of 3.2 billion Euro in 2006 and has a workforce of 18,600 worldwide. The company produces systems for car manufacturers, including French PSA Peugeot Citroen and Renault as well as US-German Daimler-Chrysler.
