Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Atlas Elektronik, a maritime and naval systems provider, announced on 5 April 2007 its plans to cut 350 jobs within the next years. The company stated that the planned measures shall bring greater competitiveness. Atlas Elektronik employs around 1,700 employees worldwide. The company added that it is seeking to define a socially acceptable solution for the affected employees, such as part-time schemes or early retirement for the elderly.
