Rhodia, a manufacturer of products for pharmacy and agrochemicals announced on 23 March 2007 its plans to close its factory in Mulhouse on December 2007. This factory currently employs 112 people. The reason given by the company is the competition from Asian countries. 109 people will be offered early retirement or offered the chance to relocate, mostly to the Rhodia Neighbor factory in Chalampé, which will be able to employ 52 people.
