A Korean company has announced plans to create 400 construction jobs with an 80 million GBP residential investment in Swansea. CoDA said it wants to build more than 400 apartments and seven retail units in the Harbour Square, on the city's SA1 waterfront site. It is the first investment by the architectural property development company in the UK.
Welsh Enterprise Minister Andrew Davies said it was SA1's largest investment and would raise the city's profile. CoDA is backed by a consortium of UK and Korean banks in the project and its investment follows the South Korean government's easing last year of restrictions on foreign real estate purchases.
Wales' second city is already undergoing massive changes with the redevelopment of the SA1 docks area and last month plans were announced to make Swansea Bay a centre for water sports.
The Harbour Square development will include twin structures rising from four to nine storeys high and made up of 406 apartments, including some affordable housing, car parking and seven retail units.
A planning application is expected to be submitted next month and the construction period will take three years.
