Description
Seaway, a Slovenian company producing sailing boats and yachts, has announced that it is to create 150 new jobs with the development of a new production site in Monfalcone by 2008.
The new site will produce larger yachts of up to 50 meters long and the investment will be EUR 15 million.
The reasons why the company decided to invest in Monfalcone instead of Slovenia are easier access to land and cheaper land, better transportation facilities (problems with the transport of yachts longer than 25 meters in Slovenia), excellent geographic position of Monfalcone with good logistic connections, long shipbuilding tradition in Monfalcone with availability of skilled workers, investment incentives of the Italian government (subsidizing of land acquisition, R&D activities and creation of new jobs), and favourable interest rates.
