US firm VMWare is expected to create 300 new jobs in a major expansion of its existing operation in Ballincollig, County Cork. VMWare, based in California, is a global leader in virtual infrastructure software and already employs more than 100 staff at the Cork unit. The firm, which was acquired by electronics giant, EMC, several years ago, set up its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) technical support centre in County Cork more than two years ago. VMWare's virtual infrastructure software enables mutiple virtual machines to be run on a single physical server.
