Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The cosmetics company Oriflame is going to close down its offices in Malmö, where some 180 people are currently employed and will be relocated to the new head office in Stockholm. The closure is part of a large-scale restructuring plan, which includes the creation of a new operational platform in Stockholm and the closure of offices in Waterloo (Belgium) and Malmö (Sweden). The management explained that the concentration of the activities in one location would improve the company's efficiency. The opening of this new platform in Stockholm will lead to the hiring of in total 300 employees. 'We are an international company. So far, the management activities have been spread across many countries. We think it is now time to move back home. Oriflame has a Swedish history and we want it to be connected with Sweden', said Magnus Brännström, CEO of the company. According to the plan, the project could be completed during 2007.
