Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Tyco Fire and Security France, specialised in investigation and security activities and owned by American Tyco International Ltd., announced on 13 February 2007 a plan of internal restructuring. The company is expected to cut between 260 and 470 jobs between April 2007 and April 2008 and create 210 new jobs in the same period of time. Tyco Fire and Security France, based in Francheville (Rhône), explained that the plan responded to a project of reinvestment and new organisation of its security branch as a result of the firm's reduced market share in France and Europe. Tyco Fire and Security France currently employs 3,200 people in France. Between 2002 and 2004, the company dismissed 440 employees and a further 125 people resigned.
