European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Entreprise de Confection et de Commercialisation Européenne, ECCE Group, which makes men suits for the Kenzo and Givenchy labels, announced on 15 February that it is closing its factory in Poix du Nord (Nord) and that it is going to outsource the work in Poland. ECCE, a subcontractor of French luxury goods group LVMH, indicates that it needs to cut down its costs in order to keep its contract with LVMH. The company will close down before 31 December 2007. Between 110 and 147 employees will lose their jobs between March and December 2007. About 30 employees may be offered jobs in another factory of the group in Prouvy, in the north of France. The employees at the Poix du Nord site are against the decision to offshore and on 16 February 2007 they demonstrated in Paris against the planned closure of the factory.
