Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Alenia Aeronautica is a major European player in the aerospace industry and the Italian leader in aeronautics. It designs and produces high-performance combat aircraft, military air lifters, special mission aircraft and commercial airliners and offers global customer service. Alenia Aeronautica is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica, the Italian advanced technology group that is among the world's top 10 players in the aerospace, defence and security markets. It has around 11,200 workers employed in 11 plants located all over Italy.
Alenia has its headquarters and two plants in Turin. During the presentation of the economic results of 2006, the company announced that it had hired 186 workers in 2006: 116 with open-ended contracts and 70 with apprenticeship contracts. Moreover, the company envisages further employment creation in upcoming years.
