European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Spanish giant El Corte Inglés plans to build a new shopping centre in Eibar (Guipúzcoa). The construction of the department store will start in spring 2007 and it is estimated to be finished by October 2008. Built on 20,000 square metres, it will have a Hipercor supermarket and the usual sections of El Corte Inglés. According to sources from Eibar City Council, it is estimated that between 300 and 400 new jobs will be created. The city mayor regards the news as extremely positive for the city's economy.
