Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW), a mining group, has launched its recruitment drive for 2007. It plans to hire 1,530 workers before the end of the year, approximately the same number that will leave work on health grounds or on retirement. In 2006, JSW hired 1,300 persons.
According to information as of July 2007, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa hired 716 employees in the first half of 2007. During the same period, 695 employees left the company due to retirement or illness, and another 69 were dismissed on disciplinary grounds. As a result, employment at JSW currently stands at 19,282.
