Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Leicester Paper Company (LPC), the British manufacturer of non woven paper, announced on 29 January 2007 that it had acquired SCA Hygiene. The company, located in Roanne (in Loire) and employing 44 people, belonged to the paper manufacturer Svenska Cellulosa.
LPC wants to triple the production of toilet paper. In order to do so, it announced that it will recruit 200 employees between June 2007 and January 2010 and that it will invest 85 million euro in the unit.
