Description
The heavy truck manufacturer, Volvo Europa Truck, is planning to create around 400 new jobs in its plant in Oostakker (Gent). This decision responds to the increased demand and will done by introducing a night shift from April 2007. Volvo Europa Truck is the largest assembly plant of the Volvo Group and produced more than 31,000 heavy goods vehicles in 2006.
The company currently employs 2,000 people in Gent working in two shifts for five days. Most of the new jobs will be in manufacturing but Volvo is also seeking for engineers, foremen and maintenance staff.
