Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Babcock Power Spain has recently presented its Industrial Plan to the trade unions. The Bilbao plant, which manufactures steam generators, industrial boilers and water-heaters for thermic factories, pleads for a reduction of 20% of its staff (400 employees in total). This plan will be executed with the aim to reduce the company's losses in 2007 to a third of those registered in 2006. The plan includes pre-retirement measures for employees born between 1953 and 1955. Negotiations between the company and the unions will continue throughout the month.
