Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Autoliv Electronics, which produces electronics components for the automotive industry, is going to cut 99 out of 400 jobs at its plant in Motala. Christer Johansson, CEO of the company, explained on 11 January 2007 that the decision is the result of the growing competition within the automotive industry. 'We have not made profits for two years. We hope that these measures will give us better perspectives for the future again'. Negotiations with trade unions are already underway.
