Description
A tractor factory in Doncaster is to close with the loss of 325 jobs. Workers at the McCormick assembly plant were told on Monday that production is to switch to Italy in the new year. The move will bring to an end 57 years of tractor production at the site. Only 25 of the 350 employees will remain in the sales and spare parts divisions. Italian industrial group ARGO, which took over the company in 2001, said the business had been loss-making for the past four years. A three-month period of negotiation with the unions started on Monday.
