Japanese car-maker Suzuki has struck a deal with Japanese company Toyo Seat for the construction of a HUF 2 billion seat factory in Nyergesújfalu, north of Budapest. Toyo Seat produces automobile seats, soft tops for convertibles, mechanical products, automotive exhaust pipes, door trims, etc. The plant will consist of a 7,000 square metre production unit with capacity of up to 1.2 million seats per year by 2008 and would employ 200 workers. The company is to supply car seats to Suzuki's plant in Esztergom. Toyo Seat has an existing plant in Szazhalombatta, south of Budapest, which employs 830 people and supplies, among others, Suzuki with seat frames.
