Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dráva Coop Mezőgazdasági, the cattle and dairy farming company, is laying off every tenth employee from its South Western Hungarian site in Barcs until the end of 2006. The dismissals represent the first phase of internal restructuring, the goal of which is the modernisation of equipment. Meanwhile, a subsidiary of the company, Dráva Tej, which produces dairy products, is facing severe financial difficulties as a result of which the new owner of Dráva Coop closed down a dairy firm in Kacsóta, in Baranya county, Southern Hungary, causing the dismissal of its 40 employees.
