Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
More than 200 jobs are under threat at a Lincolnshire factory after the collapse of a buy-out deal, it is claimed. Lincoln Castings makes tools and equipment for the automotive, engineering and defence industries.
Amicus representative Steve Syson said the future looked bleak for Lincoln Castings at North Hykeham which has been in administration since September. The firm announced on 18 December 2006 that all staff would be out of work by Christmas.
Formerly known as George Fischer (Lincoln) Limited, the firm was sold to privately-held British company, Meade Corporation Ltd, in 2004.
